The month of May is small business month, and some are getting a big boost from Comcast. Since last fall Comcast has been handing out the Comcast Rise Award to small BIPOC businesses. The program gives support to small businesses owned by people of color by helping with technology and marketing.
DeShawn Williams works as a social worker and just got his private practice going in Northeast Portland when the pandemic hit. He said he’s thankful for the support he’s receiving from Comcast.
A spokesperson with the Comcast says the program is aimed at helping small businesses succeed without any cost to the owners. The program is ongoing and the next applications process deadline is in August.
